STUDENTS STUDY MATH AND SCIENCE OVER SUMMER
June 22nd, 2012 | by advocate360 |The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) held their fifth annual Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Camp June 18-22, 2012. The camp is for students entering the sixth through eighth grade with an interest in math and science. This year over 75 students from school districts all over the Miami Valley attended STEM Camp.
STEM Camp is a one-week program that allows students to select two career areas and spend the week exploring the math and science involved in these careers. MVCTC math, science, career-technical instructors, and students work with the campers in the MVCTC labs to develop exciting hands-on projects. Camps include projects such as, Agriculture/Environmental Science, Sports Medicine, Computer Technology, Graphic Arts, Microbiology, and Green Technology.
The MVCTC STEM Camp is a success for students and staff and continues to help promote the importance of math and science skills to students in a fun and educational environment.
