Judge Jason Aslinger has announced his candidacy to remain judge of the Darke County Probate/Juvenile Court. Aslinger was appointed in March 2011 by Governor John Kasich to replace the outgoing Judge Michael D. McClurg, Sr., who retired. Because he was appointed, Judge Aslinger must run in 2012 to retain the seat to which he was appointed.
Aslinger is married to Karin (Funderburg). The Aslingers have three children, Audrey, Jacob, and Hallie, and reside in Neave Township. The Aslingers are members of the Ansonia Church of God.
Judge Aslinger is a graduate of Greenville High School. He earned a degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University, and then graduated from law school at the University of Toledo.
Prior to becoming judge, Aslinger spent 15 years in private law practice, working in Arcanum and Greenville. Aslinger owned and operated his own solo law practice, the Law Office of Jason Aslinger, LLC, from 2005 to 2011.
Judge Aslinger has a long history of service to the community. He has previously served on the following boards: Wayne Industries (past president), Main Street Greenville (past president), Greenville Boys & Girls Club, Darke County Chamber of Commerce (including service on the Legislative Committee), and the Greenville Schools Foundation. Aslinger also served as co-chair of two successful levy renewal campaigns for Greenville City Schools.
Aslinger is a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 140, in Greenville.
During his time in office, Judge Aslinger has reorganized operations and cut the Court’s budget by over $130,000. He has also changed the way the Court deals with juveniles who have drug abuse issues, requiring frequent court hearings and increased accountability. Judge Aslinger commented, “I have received a lot of encouragement for a job well done so far. I would like the opportunity to continue what we have already started.”
